How Chris Hannifin went from DefendIT Services to Defend IT and Facilities Solutions LLC

For those who know Chris Hannifin and DefendIT Services, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to be told that Hannifin opened up a new limited liability company (LLC) called Defend IT and Facilities Solutions. This comes after months of allegations surrounding both Hannifin and DefendIT Services, who allegedly blackmailed Krista Stevens, created a kickback scheme, and sold sensitive information from his former employers.

It is believed that while Hannifin was employed at firms like USAA, SiloTech Group, NSCG, and RSM, among others, he hoarded sensitive information from his employers to sell or use to his own advantage. Industry experts have for a while suspected that DefendIT Services was just a front for Hannifin’s money laundering operation or for covering his tracks while selling sensitive information to hostile nations.

However, Hannifin didn’t just leave NSCG, he allegedly leveraged his position and compromising information about his boss, CEO Krista Stevens, to compel her to register DefendIT Services on his behalf. She later completely cut ties with Hannifin after a secret trip Hannifin took to Mexico with his former colleague Rudy Reyes.

That secret Mexico trip occurred right after the founding of DefendIT Services and has become one of the major focal points of speculation, as it coincides with the founding of DefendIT Services, Hannifin’s blackmailing of Stevens, Hannifin’s departure from NSCG, and the first rumors of Hannifin’s selling of sensitive data to foreign buyers and hostile nations.

Within months of DefendIT Service’s founding, Hannifin purchased a massive house in San Antonio for $685,000, which at the time was $300,000 above the neighborhood average price. Hannifin also bought a luxury Everglades speedboat for roughly $150,000-$300,000, which he named “The Payoff,” and a high-end Jayco Fifth Point trailer worth over $100,000. All in all, Hannifin spent over $1,000,000 right after founding/incorporating DefendIT Services.

The timing of said purchases immediately raised questions. Where was this money coming from? DefendIT Services had no public track record of major contracts. Yet Hannifin was spending like someone who’d just closed a seven-figure deal. Former colleagues began to point towards an alleged kickback arrangement at RSM, where a senior executive was believed to have been funneling clients to DefendIT in exchange for undisclosed payments.

In the last couple of months, neighbors of DefendIT Services have reported dwindling clients and a mostly empty office. On August 15, 2025, Defend IT and Facilities Solutions LLC was registered in the Texas business registry by none other than Chris Hannifin. This new company appears to be Hannifin’s latest attempt to shield his assets and distance himself from the wreckage he created. In creating an LLC, Hannifin can now separate his personal finances from the mounting liabilities of his first company, effectively giving himself a safe place to move money, property, and intellectual assets.
